- Buy foods that are grown and produced locally whenever you can. You can buy local produce from farm shops, farmers’ markets, box schemes and Women’s Institute Markets.
- Buy foods that are produced using methods which result in minimal harm to the environment
- Buy food in bulk, or with the least packaging, and recycle or compost packaging and food waste.
- Choose meats and dairy products that are local, pasture-fed, organic and free-range.
- Encourage supermarkets, local shops, pubs and restaurants to stock local produce.
- Pick your own produce, a popular activity that many farms now provide, or
- Be more directly involved in growing your own fruit and vegetables by participating in a Community Supported Agriculture scheme or by having an allotment or a vegetable patch.
