Dec 3 St John’s Primary School Christmas Fair We had a stall. The children printed Xmas designs onto recycled wrapping paper and made gift tags from recycled card. The paper was used to wrap ‘post Christmas post boxes’ – ready for the children in the local primary schools to ‘post’ their used Christmas cards when they return to school in January. We’ll then collect up the used cards from this year and store them ready for recycling activities in the run up to Christmas ’05!
Dec 2 Victorian Evening Sustainable Wallingford's stall was a great success and our table looked well stocked. A big thank you to everyone who helped with the preparation and to those who helped man the stall on the night.

We managed to get about
10 new volunteers interested in helping us out so that was really great.

Jun 19 Wallingford Carnival This year’s theme was Nursery Rhymes. In an attempt to be faithful to this topic but also to the topic that defines our organisation – sustainability, we decided on ‘Wiggly Worm at the bottom of the garden’ – in the composter! The Carnival was great fun. 32 SW members and friends participated in our float.

Jun 5 No Plastic Bags Day
The aim behind this initiative was to reduce the disposal of plastic bags, which take hundreds of years to decompose and cause the environment enormous harm. The re-usable cotton bags can be put into back-packs, hand bags, even pockets! They can be carried anywhere and used for groceries or any other kind of shopping.
Over 700 local residents received a re-usable cotton carrier bag.
The bags were handed out at nine local businesses that kingly and eagerly agreed to help us:
Waitrose, Champions, Petitts, KP Stationers, Rags in Bags, Shoes in Twos, From Here to Maternity
Pennifex, Boots.
This initiative had a huge take-up and we also have the County Council to thank, for providing us with the bags – and printing SW’s logo on them.
