GREEN campaigners Sustainable Wallingford put their own spin on an idea from the 1970s- they organised a Swap Shop.
The idea was for people to take to the Regal Centre, in Wallingford,
things they did not need and swap them for things they did. No money changed
hands and hundreds of items were saved from being dumped and going to landfill
sites.
Lynn Anderson, of Sustainable Wallingford, said: "The only thing we did was weigh the things going out to get an idea of how much was saved from the tips; And it was a good way to promote recycling in general."
The idea came from a popular television series of the 1970s, Noel Edmonds' Swap Shop.
The recently-formed group has as its main aims recycling, saving energy, getting food locally, biodiversity and adopting greener transport systems.
