Waste
Objectives

The purpose of the Waste Group is to help to reduce the amount of waste
produced in Wallingford and the surrounding area by helping and encouraging
people to reduce unnecessary use of materials, reuse items and recycle what
can't be reused.
In other words
Reduce – Reuse – Recycle.
For information about what we have done to try to meet these objectives,
see the Activities page.
Our plans for 2009-10 include the following:
- Continue with Swap Shops, and try to harness their popularity to
encourage and educate people to behave more sustainably in general.
- To help inform people about waste issues, continue to keep up to
date the leaflet and webpage on waste and recycling, and consider a
new one (or part of the existing one) to publicise people and businesses
who repair things.
- Liaise with the Town Council plastic bag group
- Explore the possibility of helping to arrange a system for collecting
cooking oil for use in biofuel
- Continue to support Sally Eccleston's work on washable nappies
- Help the Bunkfest minimise waste.
